The Pennsylvania Theatre Institute is a summer camp program at West Chester University for young theatre artists. Founded in 2018 by working professional artists and educators and faculty members of the West Chester University Department of Theatre and Dance, students will train in the study of theatre arts, explore various performance and design techniques, and foster lifelong friendships.

Our Mission

Our students learn how to be theatre artists, but they also learn how theatre can shape us into curious, empathetic, and compassionate human beings. We believe that every child deserves a safe and supportive learning environment in which to thrive. Our summer camps are places where joyful fun coexists with engaged learning. We emphasize process over product, and encourage questioning and exploration.

We're here to help you support your fellow artists onstage and off.  We're here to remind you that failure is an important part of the process, and to cheer you on when you take big risks.

My daughter has raved from day one. I feel like she learned a lot, but more importantly, she learned to accept everyone for who they are. I was also told that the classes were amazing. Thank you for everything.
